David Grosso, D.C. Council candidate, fundraiser to feature celebrity
WASHINGTON (AP) - Former "Saturday Night Live" star Ana Gasteyer is headlining a fundraiser for a D.C. Council candidate.
Gasteyer will perform Saturday night to raise money for David Grosso. Grosso is an independent seeking an at-large council seat this fall.
Gasteyer grew up in Washington, and her brother is married to Grosso's sister. She'll be performing a 30-minute set drawn from her cabaret show, "Elegant Songs from a Handsome Woman."
Gasteyer appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1996 to 2002 and was known for her Martha Stewart impersonation and the NPR spoof "Delicious Dish." She later starred in the musical "Wicked" on Broadway and currently appears on the ABC sitcom "Suburgatory."
A minimum contribution of $75 to Grosso's campaign is required to attend.
