Dennis Rodman sick and broke, adviser says
Former NBA star Dennis Rodman, who is no stranger to headlines, is making them once again.
Rodman could be looking at 20 days in jail if he does not pay $860,376 in child and spousal support (after he and his ex-wife divorced in 2004), but, his lawyer and financial advisor say he may not be capable, The LA Times reported.
"In all honesty, Dennis, although a very sweet person, is an alcoholic," Peggy Williams, his financial adviser, told the Times.
Rodman appeared in an Orange County, Ca. court Tuesday, where he was ordered to pay the child and spousal support by May 29. It is likely, however, that Rodman could be ordered to do community service instead, the Times reported.
"His sickness impacts his ability to get work. This case, especially his wife filling for divorce, has put him on a binge that I have never seen before," Williams told the Times.
Williams said Rodman no longer has a job or a checking account and has no savings.
"Respondent Dennis Rodman is broke and cannot afford any additional fees," Rodman's attorney, Linnea Willis, wrote in court documents, according to NewsCore.
