Annandale murder-suicide kills former FFX officer, daughter
Updated: March 27, 2012 - 11:37 pm
Dozens of friends, classmates and neighbors gathered Tuesday night in front of the Fairfax County home where a father and daughter who were killed in apparent murder-suicide lived.
Fairfax County Police are still investigating the deaths of 40-year-old John Jackson, a former Fairfax County officer, and his 13-year-old daughter, Alexis.
Police say a Jackson and his daughter were found dead inside a parked black SUV outside of a home, where they lived, in the 3800 block of Forest Grove Drive around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
On Tuesday, friends of the 13-year-old Glasgow Middle School student were stunned that one of their classmates is gone.
"Everybody at my school was crying," Glasgow student Pasqual Lawia said. "They were all sad."
Sources tell ABC7 News that the girl's mother was inside of the car, but managed to escape and call police. They also say that it was the mother, identified as Cindy Jackson, who called 911 from inside the house.
Court records show that Cindy filed for divorce from John in 2011.
Authorities say the incident appears to be domestic in nature and that there is no threat to neighbors in this community. Residents of the Columbia Pines community where the family lived say nothing like this has ever happened before.
"I don't have words to express that...it's just my heart is breaking," neighbor Mirtha Padilla said."
