A Bladensburg man was sentenced to 30 years Thursday for sexually assaulting women he met through the web site Craigslist.

Edgar Romero, 26, pleaded guilty in September 2010 to two counts of first degree sexual abuse while armed, one count of first degree burglary, and one count of robbery while armed.

He is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and, when he's released, will be placed on supervised release for the rest of his life.

Romero contacted numerous women—including the four cited in the case—during the time between Dec. 12, 2008 to Feb. 20, 2009—through Craigslist advertisements for “erotic services.” He met each victim at a hotel in the District, authorities said

At each encounter with the women, Romero showed either a knife or a firearm and threatened to kill her if she did not cooperate fully. He, along with accomplices, bound the victims with cords or duct tape, the Attorney’s office said. Romero also stole several items from the victims, including money, cell phones, lap tops, identification cards, and credit cards.

After Romero made a final threat to find and harm the victims if they told the police, he and the accomplices left the hotel rooms. Romero was arrested on Feb. 27, 2009 and has been in custody ever since.
