Joseph Ruhren accused of sexually assaulting underage teen

A 41-year-old man is facing 12 counts of forcible sodomy and other charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen more than a decade ago.

The victim, now 27, alleges that Joseph Ruhren sexually assaulting him between 1996 to 2001. Ruhren was an acquaintance of the alleged victim, authorities say.

Inside NoVa reports that Ruhren is a former Dumfries police officer and is the owner of JoJo’s Original Soft Serve, an ice cream stand.

Dumfries Police officials confirmed to ABC7 News on Thursday that Ruhren was employed by the department from August of 1996 through 2004, at which point he resigned.
