She apologized for the incident Wednesday but declined to take questions.

“I sincerely regret the events which transpired,” she says.

An officer maintains he spotted Toles traveling well over 100 mph and swerving wildly between lanes. After a lengthy chase, the officer finally pulled her over.

Initially, she got a warning and a ticket for unsafe lane change. This prompted criticism of Prince George's Police and accusations of preferential treatment.

AAA Mid-Atlantic Lon Anderson addressed the matter Wednesday on NewsChannel8's Newstalk.

“It was clear she was being treated differently because of her position as an elected official of Prince George's County,” Anderson says.

The controversy led the Prince George's Police Department to review the incident and Tuesday issued Toles a reckless driving ticket.

Tuesday, a contrite Toles did not say whether she would fight the charge.

“I take the charges pending against me very seriously and my attorneys currently have this under review,” Toles says. “I ask you to reserve judgment and allow the legal process to run its course.”
