WASHINGTON (AP/ABC7) - A District of Columbia police officer pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an August shooting that left one person injured after the off-duty officer allegedly tried to solicit a transgender prostitute.

The Washington Post reports Kenneth Furr entered the plea Friday in D.C. Superior Court.

A court document accuses Furr of trying to solicit transgendered prostitutes when he got involved in an altercation on Aug. 26. Furr, who authorities said was intoxicated at the time, jumped on the hood of a car and fired a gun through the windshield, wounding a passenger, according to the documents.

Another hearing is scheduled for April 13.

In an indictment released following the shooting, police allege that Furr, an off-duty MPD officer, used his service weapon while intoxicated to shoot into a car which was carrying people with whom he had an earlier confrontation.

Police say that Furr then tracked them down in the 100 block of Pierce Street NW, climbed onto the hood of their car and fired several shots, all while allegedly yelling, "Ima kill all of you."

Furr reportedly blew a 0.15 blood-alcohol level during a breathalyzer test following the shooting, police say.
