ABC7, AP — Five students from each Harriet Tubman and Bancroft Elementary Schools joined Michelle Obama and children from across the country for the very first planting of her spring garden Monday.

It is the first vegetable garden at the executive mansion since Eleanor Roosevelt's Victory Garden.

Mrs. Obama said the kitchen garden is part of her Let's Move! initiative to spark discussion about healthy eating habits for children.

White House Chefs Cris Comerford, Sam Kass and Bill Yosses were also on hand to help the children with sowing plants.

White House chefs adopted Tubman Elementary through the Chefs Move! to Schools Program, which works with students and teachers on healthy eating.

Students asked Mrs. Obama what it's like to live in the White House and whether she's played the video game "Just Dance." Obama replied that she plays "Dance, Dance Revolution" with her daughters.

The fourth and fifth graders then got their T-shirts autographed by the first lady.
