Park Police crack down on illegal parking
March 9, 2012 - 05:05 pm
A local woman’s blog has led to a police crackdown on illegal parking.
The lot in question was meant for National Park visitors, not commuters.
Park Police were out in full force Friday morning issuing tickets to more than 40 cars, most them with out of state tags. The spaces are limited to three hours, but because people know that police don't regularly enforce the parking restrictions, commuters have been using it for all day parking for years.
On Thursday, a local woman posted a complaint about the lack of enforcement on a blog. Within hours, Park Police were issuing tickets and they were back again Friday. In the two days since her posting, more than 100 tickets have been issued here.
