Rock n' Roll USA Marathon route, road closures: March 17 race to tie up D.C.
The Rock 'n' Roll USA Marathon is set to begin early Saturday morning and last throughout the morning and afternoon. That means several roads and ramps will be closed periodically throughout the 26.2-mile course.
In the above map, the half-marathon route is designated in blue, while the full marathon continues in red.
Major roads throughout Washington, including C Street NE, East, South and North Capitol Street, Constitution Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, Minnesota Avenue and others will be shut down to accommodate race participants.
Most roads in the area of RFK Stadium and the D.C. Armory, where the race starts and finishes, will be closed starting at midnight Saturday and remain closed through Saturday afternoon.
Participants in the race are encouraged to take Metro to the race; the closest station to the starting line is Stadium-Armory on the Blue/Orange line.
The system will open an hour early at 6 a.m. to accommodate racers and spectators, but riders should be aware of delays on all five lines of Metro, which begin at 10 p.m. Friday.

If you choose to drive to RFK Stadium for the event, a limited amount of free parking in lots 6, 7 and 8, which sit adjacent to the stadium.
Several Metrobus routes will also be affected by the closures. In addition, both ramps to eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue from I-295 will be closed from 9:30 a.m. through 2 p.m., as well as the ramp from southbound I-295 to East Capitol Street. A full list of Metrobus detours can be found here.
