Shooting outside D.C. rec center briefly closes early voting polls
Two suspects have been arrested in a shooting and robbery that took place outside the Takoma Community Center in D.C. Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The rec center was being used as an early voting site at the time of the shooting and had to be closed briefly while police investigated.
Workers inside the center heard a single gunshot before a man,stumbled into the building. He suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and is expected to survive.
Police said four people were approached by three masked male suspects who attempted to rob them.
The two adult males arrested have been charged with attempted armed robbery, according to MPD. The third robbery suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
No voters were present at the time of the shooting. The poll was shut down for about 20 minutes before reopening.
