VRE holds public hearings on proposed fare hike
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Virginia Railway Express is holding public hearings to discuss a proposed 3 percent fare increase.
If the fare hike is approved, it would go into effect the first week of July.
At noon on Wednesday, a hearing will be held at the Holiday Inn on C Street in southwest Washington. There will also be a hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission on Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge.
Public hearings are also scheduled for later this month in Manassas, Arlington, Burke and Stafford.
VRE is also accepting written comments through April 6.
