RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Nine Virginians are among more than 140 people selected from across the country to participate in the spring White House internship program.

The White House says the program provides an opportunity to gain professional experience and build leadership skills. Interns work in departments ranging from the Offices of Cabinet Affairs and the Chief of Staff to the Offices of the First Lady and the Vice President.

Other departments include the Presidential Personnel Office and the National Economic Council.

The interns from the state are: Scott Abell from Charlottesville, Nathaniel Brown from Virginia Beach, Marshele Bryant from Chesapeake, Eric Glickman from Annandale, Angelina Loverde from Dulles, Brendan Saller from Charlottesville, Jacob Small from Arlington, Peter Velz from Centreville, and Arthur Wessel from McLean.
