An infant girl who died after she was abandoned in a Northeast D.C. neighborhood in January died from hypothermia, according to the medical examiner.

The manner of death is homicide.

The girl, who was never identified and whose parents are still unidentified, was found on Jan. 15 in the 3000 block of Channing Street NE in the Gateway neighborhood. She was wrapped in a towel on the front step of a home.

She is believed to have been about a week old. Residents in the neighborhood where she was discovered named her "Baby Shannon."

The temperature was about 25 degrees on the night the baby was found.
