2012 Cherry Blossom Parade featuring Katie Couric, Trebek
This year's National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade will have a little bit of everything. It’s featuring some famous faces who just arrived in Washington for the big day Saturday.
ABC's Katie Couric is co-hosting the parade with Jeopardy's Alex Trebek. And if iyou can't be there, watch it on ABC7/WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8.
"To be back in the Washington area is a real treat for me because it's still home and my mom lives here in the house I was raised in,” Couric says.
Singer Marie Osmond flew in from Las Vegas to be the honorary marshall and says her first stop in D.C. will be to experience the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial before the parade.
"Life is good and very busy and I've been practicing this for here,” she says. “It's great to be here in D.C. and we're gonna have a good time."
The stage is set along Constitution Avenue, making room for the thousands who will be getting up early to catch a glimpse of the 100 year anniversary of the cherry blossoms.
There will also be hometown representation from Howard University on the parade route.
The parade is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., moving down Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets, NW.
