Anne Arundel County proposed budget: $1.2 billion
April 17, 2012 - 06:35 am
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Property taxes will go up 3.1 cents under Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold's proposed $1.2 billion budget.
The budget for fiscal 2013, unveiled Monday, does not include furloughs for county workers for the first time in 2 years.
Leopold says budget choices were more difficult than in previous years.
The county likely will get $13 million less in state funding than expected. The Capital of Annapolis (http://bit.ly/HXTwth) reports that Leopold's proposal allocates $572.5 million for county schools, and will add 62 teachers.
The County Council has until May 31 to approve Leopold's plan or develop a new one.
