April 2, 2012 - 09:02 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - A Kenyan man set a course record in the annual 10-mile Credit Union Cherry Blossom run over the weekend.
Race officials say Allan Kiprono, who came in second last year, ran the course Sunday in 45 minutes, 15 seconds.
Women's defending champ Jelliah Tinega, of Kenya, won the race again this year. She finished the course in 54:02.
Thousands participated in the 40th annual event, as well as the Cherry Blossom 5K Run-Walk and the 1/2 Mile Kids' Run.
