Raymond Allen Brown arrested in accidental shooting of Amari Markel-Purrel Perkins
Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting of a 6-year-old boy who died after accidentally shooting himself.
Police announced Tuesday that they arrested Raymond Allen Brown, 20, and charged him with reckless endangerment, firearms access by a minor and possession of a firearm by a minor.
The Clinton, Md., child apparently found a loaded gun in a children's spiderman book bag and shot himself Monday, according to Prince George's County police.
The boy has been identified as Amari Markel-Purrel Perkins.
The shooting took place at about 3 p.m. in the 6000 block of Arbutus Lane in Clinton.
Investigators say Brown, who lives in the house where the boy shot himself, was not home at the time of the shooting.
Brown apparently put the gun in the backpack then left it on the floor within reach of the 6-year-old boy.
Neighbors told ABC7 that the child did not live in the house where the shooting occurred, but would stay there after school.
Richard Snowden frequently saw the little boy playing or walking with his grandmother. Like many in the neighborhood he is angry and outraged.
