April 16, 2012 - 11:53 am
A church deacon who was applying to become a Baltimore police officer was sentenced to eight years behind bars for sexually assaulting a prostitute at gunpoint.
Colin L. Hatch, 27, of Capitol Heights, Md., was found guilty in July 2008 in D.C. Superior Court of first-degree sexual abuse with aggravating circumstances, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, carrying a pistol without a license and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Authorities say Hatch picked up a 23-year-old prostitute near 10th and K Streets NW. Hatch pulled out a .45 caliber handgun, pointed it to her head, and sexually assaulted her.
The victim later saw Hatch driving in the area and alerted police, who arrested Hatch.
