Couple gets married in Maryland IKEA
Getting down the aisle was actually a trip up the escalator and through kitchen supplies for Julie Rodgers.
Rodgers, who goes by Bunny, picked IKEA for her “I do’s” to Bear Pittman. The couple may have known each other for decades—having graduated from the same high school together—but, just recently reconnected over a plate of meatballs at the Swedish furniture store.
"The strangest thing [is] I didn't realize we were on a date!” said Willie “Bear” Pittman.
But sparks flew as they strolled down the aisles of IKEA.
Tuesday, the couple made it official and made history. They are the first couple married in the College Park IKEA location. Some 25 guests filled the restaurant that was transformed into the altar, and feasted on the most famous Swedish meatballs this side of Stockholm.
The blushing bride absolutely agrees. Saying there's nothing like being surrounded by friends, family—and Swedish furniture.
“Ikea did just a beautiful job of everything that they provided for us and I’m just speechless and I’m very seldom speechless,” Bunny said.
