Fred Butler tells The Washington Times (http://bit.ly/I1nbgS) that he thinks ongoing federal probes into their campaign activities will eventually remove them from office.

Butler, a supporter of former Mayor Adrian Fenty, added that it would be a "poor use" of money from supporters to fund the recall.

Since filing a notice of intent earlier this year to recall Gray and Brown, Butler has needed to collect more than 45,000 signatures from voters across the city.

No one has ever gathered enough signatures to trigger a recall election against a district mayor or councilmember.

Gray says he didn't think a credible case for a recall could be made.
