Gary Stein, Marine sergeant, discharged over President Obama Facebook comments
(ABC7/AP) - A Marine Corps sergeant who made postings on Facebook criticizing President Barack Obama will be discharged, the Corps announced Wednesday
In early April, a military board recommended that Marine Sgt. Gary Stein be dismissed from the Marine Corps for his disparaging comments about the Commander in Chief on the social network.
One of the posts included putting President Obama's face on a "Jackass" movie poster.
"Obama is the economic enemy ... he IS the Domestic Enemy," Stein wrote in one of his posts, according to prosecutors.
The Corps says Wednesday that Sgt. Stein will be given an other-than-honorable discharge for violating Pentagon policy limiting speech of service members.
The San Diego-area Marine has served nearly 10 years in the Marine Corps. He has said he was exercising his free-speech rights.
