There is mixed reaction in the Washington region to the news that George Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Trayvon Martin’s death.

Trayvon Martin’s death hit close to home for students at Howard University.

“I felt like it should have been first degree, because in my opinion it seems as if he was murdered in cold blood," Lauren Turner, Howard University student.

They organized several marches calling for justice and held a vigil in honor of the 17-year-old.

Some students disagree on whether the special prosecutor should have charged Zimmerman with second-degree murder.

However, others we spoke to want to form an opinion until attorneys present all the facts in the case.

"I don't believe we have heard all the facts. I don't think all of the facts in this case have been released as of yet, said Gary Rufner, Centreville resident. “And from that perspective I can't give you an opinion."
