Helen Keller sunglasses created by Chinese company
April 23, 2012 - 01:19 pm
Helen Keller is undoubtedly a cultural icon—but naming sunglasses after the blind author and activist seems… questionable.
The Chinese company that created the sunglasses named The Helen Keller said that they did so in an effort to pay homage to the woman that became an advocate of those with disabilities.
Chen Wenjing, a spokesperson for the Xiamen Jinzhi, the company behind the sunglasses, told the Wall Street Journal that though the company knows that Keller was blind, they chose to name the glasses after her due to her philanthropic spirit.
