Ishmaaiyl Mulheron arrested on dog beating death charges
Updated: April 13, 2012 - 06:11 am
A D.C. man was arrested Sunday on charges of animal cruelty for allegedly beating a Yorkshire terrier to death.
Ishmaaiyl Mulheron, 23, of northeast D.C. could face up to five years in prison and a $25,000 fine. The Washington Humane Society Humane Law Enforcement Department found the dead dog in response to a report on Feb. 2. Medical reports on the 6-year-old dog show the animal died of massive internal bleeding as a result of blunt trauma.
Mulheron, a roommate of the dog’s owner, is reported to have been the only person present in the apartment when injuries to the dog occurred, the Humane Society said.
“This helpless dog suffered a horrific death. This extreme and violent act of animal cruelty is appalling and the person responsible must pay for the abuse that ultimately cost an innocent animal his life,” said Scott Giacoppo, Vice President, External Affairs and Chief Programs Officer, Washington Humane Society.
