Keeling Pilaro banned from playing for all-girls field hockey team
April 29, 2012 - 10:03 am
Keeling Pilaro, a Long Island 8th grader by way of Ireland, has a set of skills that he wants to put on display. And, for a while, he was able to do just that.
That was all before county school officials told him he was too good and would no longer be allowed to play field hockey on an all-girls team.
AS WCBS reports, the Southampton High School student will not be allowed to play next season because of his advanced skill set.
Pilaro scored 11 goals this past season for Southampton, leading the team. He grew up playing the sport in Ireland.
“I love playing with other people — it’s just really good. I hope in the end that I’ll be able to play,” Pilaro told WCBS.
