All schools in Kent County have been cleared after a Tuesday morning bomb threat shut down seven campuses in the area, Maryland State Police say.

Officials say that a handwritten note was found on a side door at Kent Middle School in Chestertown just before 8 a.m. The note said that a bomb had been placed and would detonate in that school and six others in the county.

Schools in the county were immediately evacuated and school officials began a reverse 911 operation to notify parents that schools were being closed for the day. The 2,100 students in Kent County who attend area's high school, middle school and five elementary schools were all sent home

Kent County Public School officials say that no suspicious devices were found during sweeps of school campuses, which wrapped up at about 3:15 p.m.
