Margarito Avalar Escobar arrested in Woodbridge taxi carjacking
A Chantilly man is being held without bond in Fairfax County on charges that he carjacked a taxicab in Prince William County early Monday morning.
Prince William County Police say that at about 2:45 a.m., Margarito Avalar Escobar, 29, was a customer in a taxicab near Prince William Parkway and York Drive in Woodbridge when he allegedly began to assault the driver.
The driver then told police Escobar ordered him out of the cab, then got into the driver's seat and sped away. However, authorities were able to use the cab's GPS system to track the car down in Fairfax County.
A short time later, Fairfax County Police say they found Escobar and the stolen taxi in the area of Ox Road and Palmer Road in Lorton.
Escobar has been charged with carjacking.
