Martin Hawkins, La Plata man, shot and killed

Charles County Sheriff's officials are asking for the public's assistance as they investigate the shooting death of a 32-year-old La Plata man.
The shooting happened on Wednesday night at about 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Kent Avenue. Officers say they were on patrol on a nearby street when they heard multiple gunshots.
After canvassing the area, officers found Martin Hawkins lying in the street. He was dead at the scene.
