A woman who says her car was rammed by suspects who they suspect are behind at least two similar crimes in the Potomac area says she feels like police didn't do enough to respond to her call for help.
Montgomery County Police detectives are on the lookout for the carjacking suspects who use a truck or SUV to ram vehicles from behind and in one case kidnapped a man.
Police said the suspects struck twice - first on April 3 on Jones Lane near Turkey Foot Road and again on April 14 on Jones Lane near Carry Back Drive.
In this victim's instance, the suspects struck her Range Rover at about 11:30 p.m. She exclusively told ABC 7 News that she felt like she was being followed.
"I had that feeling like something wasn't right," she said.
After the crash, the suspects drove away after they saw the 49-year-old woman speaking on her cell phone. However, she is less than pleased with the response she got from a 911 dispatcher when she called for police assistance.
"The man said, 'Well, if you were in an accident, get out and exchange information,'" she said. "I'm like, what are you, crazy?"
Montgomery County Police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks says that his department is looking into the incident and the 911 call.
"We are hearing her concerns and that has made us concerned," Starks said.
The second incident was much more violent. At about 12:30 a.m. on April 14, the suspects rammed a Volvo driven by a 59-year-old man.
When the victim got out of his vehicle, two masked men armed with a knife and gun knocked the victim to the ground, bound his hands and feet together with duct tape and forced him into the trunk of his vehicle.
The suspects then drove the suspect around to various ATMs and forced him to withdraw money.
The suspects released him several hours later.
Anyone with information about these incidents in urged to contact detectives at (240) 773-5070.
