National Minority Health Month: A day of action
April 20, 2012 - 05:58 am
April is National Minority Health Month and federal health officials are stepping up the push for health equity with a series of events, including a day of action this weekend.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health is encouraging every community to host an event that promotes the utilization of the youth as educators themselves, not just as receivers of the educations.
Health officials are asking that each event is centered around four themes: Stop Bullying Now! Prevent youth violence; Donate the Gift of Life!; Promote organ donation; Get moving! Fight Obesity; and Watch your mouth! Promote oral health .
