PG County police officer charged with theft, misconduct
April 2, 2012 - 11:44 pm
A Prince George's County police officer has been charged with theft and misconduct in office and placed on administrative leave, according to the Prince George's police department.
Officer Martin Abundez, a six-year veteran assigned to the property warehouse, has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of a criminal court case.
Abundez has been charged with two counts of theft and two counts of misconduct in office.
“While I am disappointed that a police officer would engage in suspected criminal misconduct, I applaud the commander who acted immediately to address this serious breach of the public trust,” stated Prince George's County Chief of Police Mark Magaw.
