Rite Aid store manager shot in northeast
A store manager was shot in the back at a Rite Aid store in northeast D.C. Friday during a robbery.
The manager was shot at about 12:30 p.m. at the store, located in the 1400 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE. He in critical condition.
"I just pray he is okay. He is a dad," said one employee who works at the store but was not working Friday. "This guy is a good guy don't bother nobody he is a manager he does what he does."
Police put the neighborhood on lockdown while detectives interviewed shaken rite aid staff and witnesses.
Residents said there is usually a guard on duty but this employee said the guard is not armed.
Police are now searching for the suspect. He is described as a black male in his late 40s or early 50s wearing a white baseball hat, red sweatshirt and blue jeans.
