Space Shuttle Enterprise to move to New York on Friday
April 24, 2012 - 01:06 pm
Space shuttle Enterprise is set to be ferried from Washington Dulles Airport to JFK Airport in New York on Friday, NASA said Tuesday.
NASA managers delayed the flight date from Wednesday to Friday because of weather related issues. Enterprise will ride on top of NASA’s 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft at a low altitude over parts of the New York City area on Friday. After the flyover, the carrier will land at JFK.
Following the arrival to JFK, the Enterprise will be removed from the carrier and will be taken, by tugboat, up the Hudson River to the Intrepid Museum in June.
It will be on exhibit to the public starting this summer in a temporary climate-controlled pavilion, NASA said.
