Langley Park barricade ends with no arrests; robbery suspect at-large
Updated: April 7, 2012 - 07:21 am
A police standoff in Langley Park has ended with no arrests after officers believed an armed man suspected of attempted robbery barricaded himself in a building after firing a shot inside
After several hours Friday, Prince George’s County police announced on Twitter that the barricade was over as no suspect was found inside. All roads were reopened after some residents were unable to get home.
The incident started about 5 p.m. in the area of Riggs Road and University Blvd. E. when a man came into a temporary staffing agency office. After he reportedly fired a shot and left, witnesses say no one saw him leave the building.
A witness says about an hour later people emerged from the building. But police dismissed the reports that he might have been holding hostages.
Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a spokesperson for the Prince George’s County Police, says officers went from room to room in a three-story building for the man, who was believed to be armed, possibly with a shotgun.
