DON’T THEY TIRED OF DOING THIS?: Putting on costumes, that is, per People, “You don't have to ask Taylor Swift and Dianna Agron twice to put on crazy costumes for a birthday party.
The pair have done so twice in the past week, and Tweeted pics of the results.” http://bit.ly/JwHyHB

BOX-OFFICE BONANZA: Over there, not here, per the AP, “"The Avengers" isn't playing yet on U.S. movie screens, but the superhero dream team already is a marvel at the worldwide box office. Final figures from distributor Disney on Monday put the overseas haul for "The Avengers" at $185.1 million since it began opening in 39 markets last week.” http://apne.ws/IodoZc

MEANWHILE: A review of said movie, per The Hollywood Reporter, “The All-Star Game of modern superhero extravaganzas, The Avengers is humongous -- the film Marvel and its legions of fans have been waiting for. It's hard to imagine that anyone with an appetite for the trademark's patented brand of fantasy, effects, mayhem and strangely dressed he-men will be disappointed.” http://bit.ly/IJZRWu

TONY NOMINATIONS: They’ll be announced tomorrow morning, per the Los Angeles Times, “If there's one thing that Broadway insiders can agree on this season, it's that there is no clear front-runner. . . The season lacks the blockbuster Tony magnets of recent years, such as "The Book of Mormon,""War Horse" or "Billy Elliot." Perhaps the biggest source of suspense will be how "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" will fare.” http://lat.ms/IJFR6z

JAZZ: The genere to be honored – and performed – tonight at the United Nations, per the New York Times, “Last fall Unesco — the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization — designated jazz a “universal music of freedom and creativity” and decreed that henceforth every April 30 is to be celebrated around the world as International Jazz Day. . . In addition to American players like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stevie Wonder, Wynton Marsalis and Esperanza Spalding, musicians from Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia will also be participating.” http://nyti.ms/IADFnm

THAT’S WHAT THEY SAY NOW: Just give it five minutes, per Us Weekly, “Khloe and Lamar -- the show, not the couple -- is over. Although the Kardashian family just re-upped with the E! network for three more years of reality programming, the spin-off starring Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, will not shoot a third season. "Khloe has pulled the plug," a source close to Kardashian, 27, tells Us Weekly.” http://bit.ly/KqoCHz

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY: For an film entity, per Deadline Hollywood, “Birthday wishes are in order for Universal Pictures, which as widely noted is celebrating its centennial all year long. But today is the actual official day: On April 30, 1912, Universal Film Manufacturing Company was incorporated in New York.” http://bit.ly/ICMR7v

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND: Levon Helms, per Rolling Stone, “Levon Helm was laid to rest in Woodstock, New York on April 27th, eight days after his death. SPEAKING OF FILMS: These are of a different breed, per indieWIRE, “The upcoming 65th Cannes Film Festival has added seven more titles to its lineup.
