Thomas Robinson readies for NCAA Championship
The University of Kentucky takes on Kansas University Monday night in the final game of the men's NCAA Championship, and a local family and community will cheer for Kansas because one of their own will be fighting for the trophy on the court.
The player, Thomas Robinson, faced difficulties in his past.
Last year, Thomas' mother Lisa Robinson died suddenly and within a month of his grandparents' deaths.
The entire Kansas basketball team flew to D.C. to attend the funeral with Thomas and his 9-year-old sister, Jayla.
Jayla and her dad are in New Orleans for Monday night's game.
Many people will be cheering for Robinson when he takes the court Monday night.
"We're thrilled and we're excited that he's reaping the success that he's having right now on the basketball court,” coach Lou Wilson said.
