Tupac Shakur Coachella hologram a stunner, and then some
Daybreak Daily’s afternoon drive-by look at the pop-culture world finds a vision, an unlikely development for the royals, other things, and the mystery music video.
HE’S ALIVE!: Well, in a new-age kind of way, per the Huffington Post, “Despite supposedly having been dead for over 15 years, Tupac Shakur joined Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on the main stage at Coachella late Sunday night. An all-too-realistic hologram of the late rapper rolled through "2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted" and other hits in the California desert. Even more unnervingly, he started his mini-set by shouting out "Coachella" by name.” http://huff.to/IRhw1u
MORE COACHELLA: Of a great gathering and Mazzy Star, per the Los Angeles Times, “Anyone who's ever been to Coachella or any music festival understands the idea of "the moment," that magical, jewel-encrusted feeling you get when everything clicks — the sound, the lights, the emotion, the music — and you feel at one with the world.” http://lat.ms/IOOK3G
MEANWHILE: Club Coachella, per TMZ, “Lindsay Lohan is telling friends she doesn't feel she did anything wrong by going to Coachella this weekend -- because the judge in her probation case told her to avoid clubs ... and Coachella doesn't qualify. Our sources tell us, Lindsay feels she didn't thumb her nose at Judge Stephanie Sautner, because Coachella is really just a gigantic concert and she was just there for the music. “ http://bit.ly/IrD6Hq
PIPPA: Well, well, well, per Us Weekly, “Pippa Middleton could face jail time if prosecuted in a shocking new case involving a paparazzi photo taken in Paris on Saturday. The 27-year-old socialite and entrepreneur, sister of Duchess Kate and sister-in-law of Prince William, was in the front passenger seat of an Audi convertible in the French capital as the driver pointed a semi-automatic handgun at photographers.” http://bit.ly/HLoyG3
STOP THE PRESSES: Mick is not happy, per Billboard, “Ronnie Wood recently caused a stir when the music press quoted him as saying the Rolling Stones were preparing to hit the recording studio again later this month, but he tells Billboard those comments were not accurately reported and led to an unfortunate conversation with the band's frontman.” http://bit.ly/IOLzch
REALLY?: The White Album? Really? Per Fuse, “Kurt Cobain was demoing new songs at the time of his death that transcended anything he’d written so far: “[Kurt] was headed in a direction that was really cool. It would have been his White Album,” (Eric) Erlandson says, referring to the Beatles' self-titled magnum opus.” http://on.fuse.tv/Iz7iym
OH, BOBBY: Sigh, per Radar, “Whitney Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown has formally pled not guilty to driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Brown pled not guilty in a Van Nuys courtroom on Monday morning to the charges.” http://bit.ly/IH8DZb
CENSORED: Hey, it’s China, per the AP, “Britain's biggest book fair opened Monday amid criticism of its decision to extend a special invitation to China, a country that regularly censors and imprisons authors.” http://apne.ws/IQmQCb
LORD OF THE RINGS: Brad Pitt gives Angelina Jolie a whopper of an engagement band, per People, “An independent expert tells PEOPLE that the ring could weigh in at more than 10 carats total, with a price tag of $1 million.” http://bit.ly/IY9SDJ
TATTO YOU: Rather, the ‘Cheers’ guy, per the Chicago Sun-Times, “Actor Kelsey Grammer strolled into a Noble Square tattoo parlor Saturday — and braved a tattoo needle for the first time to get his latest wife’s name inked on his waistline. The 57-year-old who plays the fictional mayor of Chicago on the Starz series “Boss,” came in to the parlor unannounced, casually dressed, with his wife, Kayte Walsh.” http://bit.ly/HNJPQD
ODD: Just. . .odd, per the Wrap, “Michael Sands, an effusive Hollywood publicist, has died after a bizarre accident in the deli section of an upscale supermarket in Century City, where he choked to death on a sample of meat.” http://bit.ly/INC2lQ
GIRLS: A review of HBO’s new series, per the Huffington Post, “If what creator Lena Dunham is doing with this terrific new series appeals to you, you might have halfway fallen for Hannah by the end of the third episode. It's certainly been a long time since I was this beguiled by a set a characters, but "Girls" is one of those rare birds: It's a show that comes to us with its voice, characters and ideas fully formed.” http://huff.to/Jp5VCQ
AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video. http://bit.ly/HC4kej
