April 10, 2012 - 07:54 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in Washington say a car crashed into a reflecting pool near the U.S. Capitol after its occupants attempted to flee from police.
Police say that around 3 a.m. Tuesday they attempted to pull over the car for a routine traffic stop near Lower Senate Park, which is across Constitution Avenue from the Capitol.
The driver of the vehicle led police on a short chase before losing control of the car. Two men ran from car but were captured by police.
Officers found a gun in the vehicle.
The car has been removed from the reflecting pool near the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and D Street.
It was not clear if there was any damage.
