Alex Jerome Carter arrested in Leroy Studevant D.C. murder
May 18, 2012 - 03:16 pm
A 31-year-old Northeast D.C. man was arrested Friday in connection to the man who was declared Washington's first murder victim of 2012.
MPD officials say that Alex Jerome Carter allegedly strangled and stabbed 56-year-old Leroy Studevant on the morning of Dec. 31. He has been charged with murder two while armed.
At about 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 31, Studevant's body was found in the 4200 block of Hunt Place NE. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The next day, the city's medical examiner declared his death a homicide.
Because the cause of death was determined on Jan. 1, Studevant was officially declared D.C.'s first homicide victim of this year.
