An usher at Nationals Stadium in Southeast D.C. was honored at Tuesday night's baseball game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Andre Hawthorne, who has been an usher at the stadium for the past seven years, received VIP treatment at the game for saving two children in his neighborhood from two massive dogs.

"I am just glad to be at the right place at the right time," Hawthorne said.

Hawthorne grabbed a kitchen knife with one hand and allowed one of the dogs to clamp onto his left arm. The dogs then left the children, including the son of Juakita Kinney, alone.

"He didn't have to go out there and do it for the kids, but he did anyway," Kinney said.

Hawthorne, whose arm is still full of puncture wounds, will walk onto the field before the first pitch. General Mike Rizzo will give Hawthorne and his family seats behind home plate, and he'll receive a shirt signed by the team.

Tonight, Mayor Vincent Gray will also proclaim the day as Andre Hawthorne Day.
