VOTE 2012
Bob McDonnell vice presidential vetting not happening, he says
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is not being vetted to be Mitt Romney's running mate for the November election, he said Tuesday.
Appearing on WTOP's "Ask the Governor" program, McDonnell said that he's supporting Romney to supplant President Barack Obama in 2012, but that he's not in line to be his vice president.
"I'm absolutely planning to finish my term as governor," Gov. McDonnell told WTOP's Mark Segraves.
Romney is in Nevada to fundraise on the day that a victory in the Texas primary could give him enough delegates to officially clinch the Republican nomination for president.
His vice presidential pick has been a source of debate for several months since distancing himself from the rest of the GOP field earlier this year. McDonnell's name has, at times, been mentioned along politicians such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
