Cathy Lanier signs new contract

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has signed a five-year, $253,000-a-year salary deal, according to WTOP.
She won’t have any annual raises or bonuses but is eligible for a 5 percent retention raise in 2015, which is standard for officers who have 20 years of service.
Lanier’s contract will be presented to the D.C. Council. However, WTOP reports that the council does not approve the chief’s contract.
The District's police union Tuesday sued the District, claiming that Lanier is hindering the union’s efforts to reach a deal with rank and file police officers.
