Clarendon Metro Plaza renovations approved
The Arlington County Board has unanimously approved a $765,000 contract to renovate the Clarendon Metro Plaza.
The plaza is located between Wilson and Clarendon Boulevards from N. Highland Street to the Metro elevator. The improvements will include:
- A curb extension on Clarendon Boulevard
-New street and plaza lighting
-Covered bike parking
-Modular newspaper racks
-Landscaping and irrigation and
-Seating walls with movable tables and chairs.
"These improvements will make it easier for all who use the Clarendon Metro Station. It's our hope that this new plaza will also foster a sense of community in one of Arlington's most vibrant districts," said Arlington County Board Chair Mary Hynes.
Construction will begin at the end of next month and is expected to be complete in September.
The board says the project will be funded by a combination of local and WMATA funds.
