D.C. hosts National Geographic Bee
WASHINGTON (AP) - Students from every state have been competing with their knowledge of the world's geography in the National Geographic Bee in Washington, and 10 finalists have emerged for the final rounds.
"Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek hosts the finals on Thursday as students compete for a chance to win scholarship money, a trip to the Galapagos Islands and the chance to represent the U.S. at the World Championship in Russia in 2013.
The finalists this year come from Arizona, California, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.
Gaithersburg resident Adam Rusak hopes to win it all in Thursday’s final round.
Three finalists are representing their states for the third time in the national bee: Anthony Stoner of Louisiana, Anthony Cheng of Utah and Vansh Jain of Wisconsin.
The finals will be televised on National Geographic Channel and later on public broadcast stations.
