Davon Rashad Wood gets 366 days for sexual abuse of 11-year-old girl, robbing undercover cop
A District man has been sentenced to 366 days of incarceration for two separate crimes, including a sex offense against an 11-year-old girl at Ketcham Elementary School.
Davon Rashad Wood, 21, pled guilty in January to attempted robbery in one case, and he pled guilty in March to a charge of attempted second-degree child sexual abuse.
Only four days after pleading guilty to robbing an undercover Metro Transit Police officer who appeared to be asleep, Wood was charged with entering the elementary school and assaulting the girl.
Wood admitted that on February 1 he entered Ketcham Elementary School in Southeast and said he was looking for a child. A teacher's aide asked the 11-year-old girl to escort Wood to the second floor to find the child.
Wood admitted that he put his arms around the victim, hugging her from behind. Then, as she tried to escape, he touched her buttocks.
Wood also admitted that on December 7, 2011, he approached a man who appeared to be sleeping on the platform at the Congress Heights Metro Station in Southeast, took $20 from the man's pocket, and then walked away.
The man he robbed was an undercover Metro Transit Police officer. Wood was arrested shortly after stealing the money.
A spokesperson for DCPS told ABC7 in February that they are working with D.C. police to review security measure and prevent further breach of the school building.

For the offense of attempted robbery, Judge Heidi M. Pasichow, of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, gave Wood a suspended sentence of six months of incarceration, and placed him on 18 months of supervised probation.
For the offense of attempted second-degree child sexual abuse, the judge sentenced Wood to 24 months of incarceration, suspending half of the sentence, leaving him with 366 days to serve.
Wood will be placed on 18 months of probation after his release, and will be supervised by the Sex Offender Unit of the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency. He will be required to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years.
