Jenny Bermant, Kilby principal, arrested
The principal of Kilby Elementary School in Prince William County was arrested and charged with using a school credit card for personal use.
Police arrested Jenny Georgina Enriquez-de Bermant and charged her with one count of embezzlement. She was arrested on Thursday and released on $3,500 bond.
Police said she spent about $8,000 on the school district’s credit card for personal purchases, including such items as iPhones and televisions.
Bermant, who had been the principal at the school since 2010, was placed on leave earlier this week.
The Prince William County School District released this statement:
The arrest of Jenny Bermant is distressing to the school community, but regrettably consistent with the findings of the School Division investigation that resulted in her placement on administrative leave, and her replacement with a new acting principal of Kilby Elementary School.
