POP: Jessica Simpson’s new baby boots surely will be made for walkin,’ per People, “The star and her fiancé Eric Johnson welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson on May 1, she announced on her website. "Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson," she wrote. "We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!" http://bit.ly/IkZ5Qv

SIGN OF THE TIMES: But it just seems so wrong, per the Los Angeles Times, “(A) panel at last week’s CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas was highlighted by a noisy debate over texting in movie theaters. Several prominent industry figures seemed to endorse the idea that, at a time when teenagers are going to the movies less and less, it might be time to relax our prohibitions against texting in theaters. Regal Entertainment chief Amy Miles, who oversees the nation’s largest theater chain, said that while her company discourages cell phone use, executives had talked about being more flexible in auditoriums showing youth-oriented films.” http://lat.ms/Inewvt

SPAT: This is where it always gets ugly, per TMZ, “Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Raymond have gotten an ultimatum in their custody war -- they're at the Atlanta courthouse trying to settle it, and if they can't the judge is going to lay down the law. The singer and his ex-wife showed up to Fulton County Court this morning -- where a judge ordered the couple to try and hash out a temporary custody agreement in private mediation.” http://bit.ly/Il1IlB

WOODY: And that other guy, per Vulture, “In what Deadline dubs "a competitive situation," a new series starring real life BFFs Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey is heading to HBO. It's looking like True Detective will feature an eight-episode first season.” http://bit.ly/JLB7xY

MIKE WALLACE: A journalist’s journalist, per the AP, “Chris Wallace turned and blew a kiss to a giant portrait of his father, "60 Minutes" journalist Mike Wallace, after memorializing him Tuesday as "the best journalist I have ever known. . . For nearly two hours, colleagues, friends and family members swapped stories - some flattering, some not so - about one of television news' best-known journalists. Mike Wallace died at age 93 on April 7. " http://apne.ws/IF5Puj

HUH?: She did respond, though, and that’s nice of her, per the Huffington Post, “Hillary Clinton may be down with texting and letting loose in Cartegena nightclubs but she's not ready for her big-screen debut -- at least not yet. Jason Segel, who stars in TV's "How I Met Your Mother," said last week that the secretary of state turned down his offer to work with him on screen.” http://huff.to/KnYqws

LIONEL LEGEND: The swap edition, per Entertainment Weekly, “John Legend is about to make some (probably sexy) music on ABC. The network announced Monday that Legend is set to join the quartet of mentors that will helm its forthcoming singing competition Duets, ABC has confirmed to EW. . .Legend will replace Lionel Richie, who dropped out of the show citing “personal scheduling conflicts,” according to a rep.” http://bit.ly/IPyxq3

TONY NOMINATIONS: per the AP, “The low-tech musical "Once," based on the love story of a Czech flower seller and an Irish street musician in Dublin, received a leading 11 Tony Award nominations Tuesday, proving sentiment can sway nominators just as much as special effects.” http://apne.ws/Ijt7mB

SIRIUS XM: They still like us, per Deadline Hollywood, “The improving economy, and especially auto sales, enabled the satellite radio company to project that it will gain 1.5M subscribers in 2012 — up from its previous estimate of 1.3M.” http://bit.ly/ICXLfr
