Memorial Day Metro closures affect Green Line stations
Metro is using the extended Memorial Day holiday weekend to advance track work on two lines, and several stations along the Green Line will close starting on Friday night.
At 10 p.m. Friday, the entire northern section of the Green Line in Maryland - including the Greenbelt, College Park, Prince George's Plaza and West Hyattsville - will be closed through the long weekend. Buses will replace trains, but riders are urged to add 50 minutes to their travel time.
In addition, trains on the Red Line will single-track between Forest Glen and Takoma throughout the weekend. The Blue, Orange and Yellow Lines will run uninterrupted.
On Memorial Day, Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule. The system will be open between 7 a.m. and midnight with off-peak fares in effect all day. Buses will run on a Sunday schedule as well.
All track work is expected to be complete by the closing of the system on Monday night.
