Morgan Detroy Monroe Jr. killed in Mount Vernon shooting

Investigators are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a 47-year-old man in Mount Vernon.
Police say that 47-year-old Morgan Detroy Monroe, Jr of Landover was found with gunshots to the upper body inside a car at San Leandro Place and Mendocina Place around around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Monroe was found shot inside a 1996 Honda Accord.
Witnesses say they saw some people leaving the scene in a hurry, but officers say they don't have a description of anyone who was seen at the scene.
Police continue to investigate the shooting as a homicide.
